I love photographing boats. The one boat I most love focusing on is my own Luders 16, Ludicrous, which I race summers in the waters off Mount Desert Island. I have always taken the best youth sailing instructors as crew. And now that they have developed to the point where they believe they can beat their coach, I give the boat to them to race in August. That’s when the clouds are prettiest and the winds are strongest and the mountains are the perfect backdrop. Chasing boats around, camera in hand, in a powerboat is almost always satisfying and, unlike with racing, I seldom mess up.
